***Outstanding*** The nose offers an interesting contrast in that it is understated yet evidences intensely spicy fruit framed by toasted oak notes that lead to big, mineral laden flavors and a finish that emphasizes both green apples and a flinty quality that is somewhat reminiscent of a grand cru Chablis. There is really lovely purity here with beautifully elegant buffering acidity on the dazzlingly long finish. In sum, this is a great 2001. - BH

Spices, gravel, and smoke can be detected in the nose of the 2001 Meursault-Perrieres. It does not have the flesh, opulence, and depth of Lafon’s finest 2001s, but it delivers loads of purity and elegance. Spiced minerals and candied lemons make up this delineated, refined wine’s character. (PR) - WA

Musky, dusty aromas of orange zest, orange oil and minerals. Wonderfully sweet, tactile and minerally; a highly concentrated wine that really coats the palate. Finishes with explosive length. "This is a boring vineyard," says Lafon. "It too good every year; there no work to do." - VM
